Moderately watch, manufacturing issues and poor service
I have wanted an IWC for a desire, long time and finally this Christmas, my wife made it happen for me with the Portofino Automatic. We had to wait a while because IWC had manufacturing issues and segregate down production for several months in 2011, but around Christmas time one finally popped up and she snagged it rapidly.Without a doubt, this is a gorgeous watch. It is a little noisy, but evidently that's the self-winding physicalism and after a couple weeks I grew to think of that as more of a cool feature than a nuisance. That period, from 2 weeks in to 8 weeks in was the aureole time with me and my IWC and I was VERY happy with the watch. Then something broke. The crown and stem became detached from the watch. No invoice to the watch, just at the end of February, I needed to adjust the day and when I pulled on the crown, the WHOLE thing came out. I was well-meaning of surprised, but honestly thought it had just become unscrewed somewhere inside the casing. I took it to a mend...

Wow what a bar-reap!
I've been looking for an low-cost timepiece like this for a long time now. I grew wary of wearing high priced watches when I am resigned to slum it in a lowly Bentley or Aston Martin. This alert for is perfect for that! Now I can blend into the same crowd that wears G-shocks and Rolexs! I find the faux leather to be a very agreeably touch! Almost looks real (scoffs, almost.) And it is somewhat accurate. But overall, I feel it could have been made shed weight cheaper in order to throw off the street urchins. Just the other day, I was minding my own business (And by that, I have the weight liquidating small business and sending jobs over to India, China, etc...) This is an unquestionably amazing watch. Its style is both very sober and elegant. It enables you to know what time and what day it is, don't want anything else. The black croco leather strap is also very well manufactured.Actually, this is a typical Baume et Mercier work: fine, elegant, beautiful.

Tot up fiasco - BEWARE when buying this.
Intial magazine: (I wrote the day after I bought my 1st)stylish, elegant, understated, very thin, light weight, great buyhappy I bought it and precisely got one for my brotherUpdate -The watch is a few months old.Style wise - I love it.HOWEVER - I am concerned it might plunge back about 10min a week.I may have to return and repurchase - which is annoying - but smooth if done through amazon - I hope.2nd update -The vigil definitely loses time. I looked down and thought I was on time - when in fact I was late - multiple times. Not what you ahead to from a new 1200$ watch. Further troubling is what I came to learn. Initially I contacted amazon philosophy that my fastest course of action was to return this watch and repurchase another. It's like looking into Fortunate!
This look at is fantastic! I can't believe how many people complain that this is overpriced! How can you compare the pure beauty of this to some minuscule problems like money? Let's be honest most of us have at least a $250k leisure budget each year & this hands down fits in. If you are trying to save money, buy this watch! For example, I bought this watch shortly after both of my arms had been lost in a nauseous jenga accident. Only a few short weeks after buying this watch, it grew my arms back for me! Weighty Watch!!!
I bought this be careful of as a stocking stuffer this past christmas and my son has ranted and raved over this watch! He wears it to coterie and also to soccer practice to keep track of when to switch foot training drills. I will be demanding that he exasperate this to his fifth grade graduation. He looks great in it and I don't like to see him not wear it!
